Terms of Use
The agreement between you and mati.
Last updated: 28 July 2026
mati is a personal recipe manager, run by the operator of this service and offered free of charge. By using it you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please stop using mati and delete your account. How your data is handled is covered separately in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of this agreement.
Your account
Accounts are created by invitation, not by public sign-up. You are responsible for keeping your password and your recovery code safe, and for everything done through your account. Because of how mati's encryption works, we cannot reset your password on your behalf or see your recovery code. Do not share your account with anyone.
Your recipes are yours
You keep all rights to everything you put into mati. We do not claim ownership of your content, and we cannot read it: it is encrypted on your device before it reaches us, so all we hold is ciphertext we store and hand back to you. You can export everything at any time from Settings → Export my data.
Generated recipes
mati can generate a recipe suggestion from a title you type. These suggestions come from an AI model, are produced automatically, and are not reviewed, tested or verified by anyone. They may be wrong, incomplete, or unsafe.
Generation is limited to a small number of requests per day, and the feature may change or be withdrawn at any time.
Acceptable use
Use mati for storing and organising recipes. Do not use it to store anything unlawful, to break into other people's accounts, to attack or overload the service, or to work around its limits. Because your content is end-to-end encrypted, we cannot inspect it or moderate it; where we have good reason to believe an account is being used unlawfully or abusively, the only real remedy available to us is to suspend or close that account.
Availability, backups and data loss
mati is provided as it is, free of charge, with no promise that it will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it. There is no guarantee that lost data can be restored.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, mati is provided without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for lost data, lost profits, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service or from any recipe it produces.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, and any rights you have as a consumer under mandatory local law, which these terms do not take away.
Ending it
You can stop at any time: Settings → Delete account permanently erases your account and content. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and we may shut mati down entirely. If the service is being discontinued and we are able to reach you, we will give reasonable notice so you can export your data first.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will update this page and its "last updated" date. Continuing to use mati after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of <replaceme: country>, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections you enjoy where you live.
